Rainbow week is a week of celebrating inclusivity. Here at the University of Cape Town, this week took place from Monday, the 8th of October, to Friday the 12th.
Talks, dialogue, forum, debate, arts and performance are all mediums through which to celebrate the diversity that exists within our country, and especially within our campus.
On Thursday, #RadioRainbowHouse allowed for active engagement of voicing issues in order to aid transformation by sticking notes on the ‘Wall of Transformation’.
Colour, enthusiasm and heart were not only displayed through the balloons and streamers that were put up in and around the tent outside the station, but also through the energy exuded by the students with posters in hand, walking towards the tent and creating an immense sense of belonging and inclusivity.
“This means I can be who I am without fear. This week is a representation of being who you are and not fearing what anyone else thinks.” – Baby X, Rainbow UCT
